I recently installed the new MiniServer, and wished to use the Public Chat app. I installed it as root, as a system wide app. But, the program doesn't work. It doesn't load, and instead shows this error code:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in G:\eyeOSminiServer\systemfiles\www\etc\apps\PublicChat.eyeapp\src\pfctools.php on line 70

Any suggestions would be welcome, and great work on this system!

Hi DeathRider, and welcome to the eyeOS Community.

Glad to hear that you're using "my" MiniServer!
The problem you have, is because your PC is to busy with other things, so the excecution time of the php scripts is exceeded. You can change it manually in the php.ini. I will tomorrow search for the exact line.

Hey, thanks. I believe I tried that myself once, not too sure, but if you find the line, I'll be glad to try (or re-try) that fix. If I can get PublicChat working, I plan on using eyeOS as a collaboration system with my AP US History classmates. So, I really really really appreciate any help you guys can give! Thanks again!

The exact line is (copied the comments from php.ini too, so you can find it easier):

Code:
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Resource Limits ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

max_execution_time = 30     ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds

Ok, I tried that, and it is still giving me the exact same error message. I don't think it is noticing my changes to the php.ini file. I have set it far above 30 seconds, but the app still thinks that the timeout is 30. Pretty strange, huh?

That's strange. Maybe it was the wrong php.ini you made the changes to. Search your computer for other php.ini files. Did you have phph installed prior to installing MiniServer?

Mh, the server must be restarted in order to pick up the new php.ini. Have you tried it? You could also try this:

-Uninstall the app,
-Clean the browser of cookies (PublicChat uses its own cookies)
-Reboot the miniServer (in order to take effect the 30s upgrade)
-Reinstall the app

And tell us what happens Smiley.

However, we're updating Public Chat in a few weeks, with a new version of it's core with multichats, much more advanced administration system, etc. But you can still try this, since it should work.

Has anyone with miniServer had the same problem?

No, but I have the same problems with my real eyeOS-System! But I haven't tested to set the max_execution_time = 30!

The php.ini in the systemfiles dir is the only one used for PHP by the miniServer. Normally it is enough to restart the server to apply the changes, so it's really strange it doesn't work... I will look for a solution!

Yeah, I have tried all of that... In fact, I've noticed that any changes I make to php.ini take no effect. Heres what I do: I shutdown the server, make changes, restart server. For instance, I can't get my server to accept uploaded files more than about 2 megabytes, even though I set the php.ini to accept about 15 MB (I'm only uploading 4-5 MB mp3 files). So, it seems to me that perhaps something is causing my php.ini settings to be ignored? By the way, thanks so much for all the advice and help! This community ranks up there with the Damn Small Linux boards!

Hi,
I'm getting same error, with latest version of MicroServer and Publich Chat, on a windows machine.

Indeed the php.ini is read correctly, but rising the timeout to 120 secs gives no advantages, and the same error is returned.

Which versions run on the public eyeos.info server?

Anyone can help?

Many thanks, simone
