I too would like to see IMAP.  I don't normally use IMAP but I'd like to fool with it for gmail + EyeOS.

me too. I don't know how eyeOS handles pop3, but once you retrieved the messages with pop3, they are removed from the server and you can no longer access them. Imap is more oriented toward users who work on several computers. Like eyeOS is.

I absolutely agree! I am very much looking forward to eyemail with IMAP support. POP3 doesn't make much sense. At home I manage several IMAP accounts with Thunderbird. En route I could of course access these accounts through their several webmail interfaces. But it would be a lot nicer to have everything in one place within eyeos.

Roundcube really looks nice. But since its installation requires shell access and therefore cannot be properly performed on a shared hosting webspace, it's no option for me.

Best regards,
Arzt

Roundcube doesn't require shell access to install in fact I have had it installed and running on my webhosting as an app inside eyeos. It was quite a while ago but what are you stuck with maybe I can help you.

Hello chris_wilson2005!

That's what I call good news.  Somrient

Then let me ask you one question regarding the installation described here. In the step called "Database Setup" it says :"For example with mysql enter the following code on the command line:"

What command line is meant by that? I thought this action would require shell access.

Thanks a lot for your guidance!

EDIT:

I am not sure if rouncube is really an option as it does not support multiple accounts  Trist

Hi Arzt,

Sorry for the delay in reply I posted one a few days ago but it was around the time the wiki went down and it got lost. So I hope I can help you now. The step to which you refer is the setup of the database. You do not need shell access as long as you have something like phpMyAdmin installed. You can open the .SQL file in phpMyAdmin and get it to execute the sql command. I think many hosted plans come with phpMyAdmin pre installed. I know mine does. I seem to remember I also installed it myself about 5 years ago now so the memory is a little rusty but I believe that the install is pretty straight forward as long as you know your database host name your username and password.

As far as multiple email accounts is concerned I have been using an app I modified from the mebo app to run roundcube within eyeos and it works very nicely.  As long as the accounts are on the same imap server you should be fine if you want to check multiple servers I am not so sure.

I hope this helps, feel free to post here or pm me if you have any more problems

Best wishes

Chris

Hi Chris!

Yes, I do have access via phpmyadmin. But unfortunately I have to check imap accounts hosted on 4 different servers. That's why I would appreciate it so much, if roundcube or better eyemail supported IMAP at all with multiple accounts.

Recently I also installed iloha mail, which works fine, but doesn't support multiple accounts either.

Thanks a lot for your advise! Sonrisa At the moment I am not actively searching for a solution, but I will keep an eye on further development here and among other easy-to-install webmail-skripts.

Bye!
