Why is it so slow? My eyeos is very slow, by slow I mean it takes forever to load the OS and use the OS but downloading seems faster then the os speed? Is eyeos demo server a microserver? Because that is very fast? Are there routers or modem settings I should change? I opened the 8080 ports. thanks for you help?

Could you be a little more specific? Are you using microserver? Have you installed eyeOS on a shared host? Or do you mean the official eyeOS demo server at http://eyeos.info?

Yes i am using microserver. And I just want to know if it is going as fast as it can. Should it be just as fast as the eyeos.info server? or slower?

Thanks!

Try to install appserv (appservnetwork.com) which is an open source package that contains a full apache web server with the latest PHP available and tell us if it improves. If does, then the problem will be MicroServer. If not, then the problem will be something related to your Windows.

It took microserver 15.4 to load the login screen
and it took Apache 10.6 to load the login screen

Are these normal times? Seems long to me. But yet it is not a real server.

THANKS!!(happy Halloween)

You're right, it's still kinda slow, but not very much. What's your computer's configuration? What other software are you running on it?

10 seconds is NOT a normal time. I have several installations of eyeOS on various Hosts, servers and computers for testing and none of them are that slow, if it were I wouldn't use it.

If you want to troubleshoot it a bit you could use FireBug and look at the Net tab which will tell you exactly what components are taking long etc.

It could be my Computer capability but I don't see why this is such and demanding operation being I openned the site on the same computer as the server!

2.40 Ghz
256 Ram
intel celeron
Xp

I have avira Anti-virus and comodo Firewall. Thats all. (Skype once in awhile:))

I will see what you think about that then I will try firebug.

thanks again

your RAM is extremely low for your other system specs... it should be at least 1GB. I suspect that is your issue. FireFox alone can take over 100MB of RAM.

Hmm... Maybe the firewall can be the problem. Try to deactivate it and test eyeOS again...

Ya I turned off my Firewall. no result. Is eyeos THAT big of a ram taker? I can't really see that! I under a router and modem firewall. Port 8080 is opened. Should there be other settings?

Normally not. eyeOS is no real Application, it's webpage like. So it shouldn't be so slow... Sorry, but I've really no idea... Maybe you test wampserver.com/en ! Install it, go to C:\wamp\www\ and copy the eyeOS installation files to there. Start the Browser and run http://localhost/eyeOS/install.php . Is it slow? If yes it's a general problem with your computer...

256mo are really small to launch Firefox + eyeOS + a lot of applications running into eyeOS...
and remember, a web app will already be slower than a desktop one Wink
