Hi,

Now that eyeOS 1.6 Gala Sync is out, it is time for us to start developing eyeLIMS ! As previously announced, eyeLIMS development will intensively use Launchpad (for Blueprints, Code, Bugs and Translations).

I just submitted the blueprints of the first eyeLIMS applications: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/eyelims/

As you will see, eyeLIMS will fisrt include 3 applications showing the different capacities of eyeOS as a LIMS:

- eyeTimer: which is a desktop widget to manage time.
- eyeJmol: an integration of the java Applet Jmol which allow user to visualize and manipulate 3D molecules in eyeOS.
- eyeStorage; which will be the core of eyeLIMS and will allow users to manage and browse all their reagents and samples in the lab. The first version of eyeStorage will include 4 modules: eyePrimers, eyeAntibodies, eyePlasmids and eyeMouse. Radwen Aniba joined the eyeLIMS community and will focus on eyePrimers development whereas I will work on the other modules.

Please note that eyeTimer and eyeJmol are currently waiting for developers. I try, as much as I could, to imagine apps which could also be be useful for non biologists and, to my opinion, eyeTimer could also be really useful for cookers to manage their recipes. The same way, more and more educative softwares integrate 3D molecules demonstration. For this reason, eyeJmol could be also integrated in eyeEdu.

So if you are interested in joining the dev team of one or more of these apps, do not hesitate to register on : www.eyelims.com and to contact me.

Hi,
could you give a more in-depth description of eyeTimer functions ?

I work for an academic bioinformatics platform and we are investigating for providing access to bioinformatics tools via eyeOS.
We would definitly need a Timer to trigger some events at specific intervals (to get the status of running jobs), so it needs to trigger a function at specific time and to be window related (if you have the same app opened twice, each one has its own timer).

thanks
